For the fourth year, the capital’s organized competition has attracted the greatest interest in its entire history. About 70 participants registered for the “Bug Bounty,” more than 30 of them actively searched for security vulnerabilities and submitted at least one report. In total, the Municipality received about 250 reports of possible security vulnerabilities, some of which were repeated reports about the same security vulnerability.

This year, nearly twice as many reports were received as last year and significantly more than in all previous years of the competition. This shows the growing interest of the ethical hacking community and helps to further strengthen the security of Vilnius city’s digital systems. The increasing involvement of participants allows identifying more potential risks and consistently improving the security level of digital services provided by the municipality.
The competition commission will continue the work. It will thoroughly evaluate all received reports, determine their validity, identify possible repeated reports, and make decisions regarding the awarding of monetary prizes. According to the competition rules, when several participants report the same security vulnerability, the prize is awarded to the participant who reported it first. If additional information is needed during the evaluation, the commission will contact specific participants directly. All participants will be informed personally and on the “Bug Bounty” page about the final competition results.
