„Via Lietuva“ has signed a construction contract for one of the most important infrastructure objects in Ukmergė – the bridge over the Šventoji River, located on the state road of national importance Ukmergė–Molėtai (No. 115), for major repairs and reconstruction of part of this road section. The project aims to fundamentally improve traffic safety, communication conditions, and renew the poor condition infrastructure.
During the implementation of the project “Major repair of the bridge over the Šventoji River at 0.393 km and reconstruction of the section from 0.512 to 0.836 km on the state road No. 115 Ukmergė–Molėtai,” the strategically important bridge over the Šventoji River in Ukmergė will be renovated and the adjacent road section reconstructed.
During the major repair of the bridge over the Šventoji River, the bridge beams will be repaired and reinforced, the riverbank supports fixed, and worn bearings replaced. The bridge deck structure, expansion joint plates, new expansion joints, galvanized metal barriers, railings, and modern lighting will also be completely replaced.
To protect the structure from negative environmental impact, new waterproofing, a water drainage system, and water collection wells at the approaches will be installed. The project also includes improvements to the surrounding infrastructure – cleaning and repairing slopes, renovating stairs on one side, and installing new sloped stairs on the other side.
Reconstructing the section of the state road No. 115 Ukmergė–Molėtai from 0.512 to 0.836 km, the road surface will be repaired, a parking lane made of concrete pavers and a 0.5 m wide technical sidewalk will be installed on the left side of the road. A safety island with an unregulated pedestrian crossing, reconstruction of seven culverts, installation of tactile surfaces for the visually impaired, new rainwater drainage networks, and a road drainage system throughout the section are also planned.

“I am glad that we are rapidly reducing the number of bridges in emergency condition. This year we will repair 25 bridges and viaducts, and by the end of 2028 we will renovate as many as 105 bridges in emergency condition across Lithuania. Every repaired bridge means not only safer traffic but also more vibrant regions, where people travel more comfortably to work, school, or doctors every day,” says Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas.
“The bridge over the Šventoji River is one of the most important infrastructure objects in Ukmergė, so its condition directly affects both traffic safety and the daily mobility of residents. The structure, used for a long time, is worn out, so major repairs are necessary to ensure safe and convenient communication in the future,” says Martynas Gedaminskas, CEO of „Via Lietuva“.
The project contractor is UAB „Švykai“. The value of the construction contract is 5.33 million euros including VAT, and the work is planned to be completed by the end of 2027. The technical design of the project was prepared by UAB „INHUS Engineering“.
