Over the past two decades, scientists have thoroughly discussed the Anthropocene – a proposed term for the geological epoch in which human activity has become one of the main forces shaping the state of the Earth as a unified system – and the related theoretical problems. However, much less has been said about the more practical question: how should historical research address these problems and how would the new issues raised by the Anthropocene change historical scientific activity? This is exactly what historians and anthropologists will discuss in Vilnius.

The main presentations and discussions of the convention will take place on August 21–22 in Vilnius, at the Sapieha Palace. The third day of the convention will be dedicated to participants’ visit to the Kernavė archaeological site.
