Under this project, WITU will supply missile systems carrying an MBDA-developed counter-mass drone attack (CMI) warhead. It was presented in July by the company’s division in the United Kingdom (UK).

The system is planned to become operational next year, when the first test firings are scheduled. On Tuesday, the countries announcing cooperation at Poland’s largest annual arms fair said they had already started initial tests in August.
CMI is an inexpensive guided warhead designed to neutralize both reconnaissance and attack drones at a distance of up to six kilometers, MBDA told the Polish news agency PAP.
The missile being developed by WITU is expected to be supersonic to be able to combat next-generation high-speed drones and cruise missiles, PAP sources said.

An MBDA representative stated that the project’s goal is to develop a missile that costs roughly as much as the targets it will be used against, as well as to provide Poland with its own mass-produced drone defense capability that could also be used by other European allies.
MBDA plans to manufacture its CMI warhead in Poland if Warsaw agrees, PAP reported.
These plans were presented at the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO), widely regarded as the leading defense fair in Central and Eastern Europe. This event takes place annually in the city of Kielce in southern Poland.
