The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported after 9 a.m. that due to Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles, military aviation began operating in Polish airspace.

The command also indicated that, following the applicable procedures, the necessary forces and measures were activated. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were prepared.
The Operational Command emphasized that the actions were preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the security of Polish airspace, especially in areas near threat zones. The situation was monitored, and forces remained ready to respond immediately.
At 10:30 a.m., the military reported that the military aviation operation in Polish airspace due to Russian drone strikes on Ukrainian territory had ended. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems returned to normal operational mode.
“We inform that no violation of the airspace of the Republic of Poland was recorded,” the military stated.

This is not the first time this week that the Polish military has scrambled fighters due to Russia’s war against Ukraine. The last time this was done was on Friday morning. At that time, operations at Rzeszów and Lublin airports were temporarily suspended due to military aviation actions. It was later also reported that Polish airspace was not violated.
On Thursday, residents of eastern Polish regions were also warned twice about a possible air attack threat. Residents of the Podkarpackie and Lublin voivodeships received a warning urging them to find a safe place and follow the instructions of the services.
Later, the Polish leadership explained that the warning was issued due to a drone that fell or was shot down over Ukraine, a few kilometers from the Polish border. After a few dozen minutes, the warning was canceled, and no violation of Polish airspace was detected.
