The detention was extended on all three grounds provided by law. According to the court’s assessment, while free, the suspect may flee or hide from the pre-trial investigation officers, prosecutor, or court, obstruct the process, and commit new crimes.

“Technically, such a decision did not surprise me. That is what I expected, although I requested and believe it could be completely different. Another month was assigned, and then everything will move to the district court and probably further.

I sincerely believe that we will approach the finale by the New Year. The suspicions have been corrected, adjusted, but the interesting part, generally speaking, the essence is the same. Of course, there are many differences for me, but they are only for professionals, only for those who do this work,” said J. Sadauskienė’s defender Vaidotas Sviderskis to 15min.

The prosecutor’s office requested to extend the detention for both suspects – J. Sadauskienė and V. Solkanas. The court will decide on the preventive measure for the latter tomorrow.

Suspected of murder and illegal deprivation of liberty

The next day, a buried man’s body was found in one of the homesteads in this village. In the same homestead, law enforcement also found a firearm.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the crime may have been committed due to personal disagreements. At the time of M. Sadauskas’s murder, he and J. Sadauskienė were undergoing divorce proceedings. It was later terminated due to the death of one of the spouses.

V. Solkanas’s father, Ilja Solkanas, is suspected in this case of illegal possession of a firearm. He was assigned a bail of 5,000 euros.

The investigation also involves J. Sadauskienė’s father, Egidijus Gaigalas. He has not been charged with M. Sadauskas’s murder. E. Gaigalas is suspected of illegal handling of ammunition and narcotic or psychotropic substances.

At the beginning of August, the prosecutor released E. Gaigalas from detention and assigned him milder preventive measures.
