“This year’s celebration ‘Panevėžys. HOW WE ARE!’ will spread across Laisvės Square, Senvagė, the surroundings of the Panevėžys Cultural Center, city galleries, museums, and other spaces, and at its center will be what creates the city every day – the people,” announced the Panevėžys city municipality.
According to it, this year invites you to look at Panevėžys through the people who live, create, work, grow, and meet there.
On Friday, theater installations, exhibitions, and a festive fair are planned: a children’s entertainment area will operate near the Panevėžys Cultural Center, and the musical project “Sounding Balconies” will sound in Laisvės Square, where you can also see the dance performance “While We Are Here”.
As evening approaches, participants of the run “523 rhythm: Panevėžys runs with DJ” will finish near the municipality, where a DJ disco and foam show will await them, and on the main stage of Laisvės Square – a concert.
Senvagė will also have its program. Here you can embark on an entertaining tour on the Nevėžis River, try the technology expedition “Tomorrow starts here,” walk the living art path “The Art of Being Yourself,” try the swing alley “Lightly. How we are,” visit the “Senvagė Sails” area, or listen to music in the amphitheater.

On Saturday, Panevėžys will celebrate from morning until midnight. The day will start with a solemn city flag-raising ceremony, and from noon, different city spaces will come alive simultaneously, the announcement says.
An active city space with youth, creative, educational, and interactive activities will be set up in Laisvės Square, the “Great Tango Festival,” artist Monika Diršytė’s performance “To Be or Not to Be,” and the one-person show “Myriop” will take place. In Senvagė, a family technology expedition, “Senvagė Sails,” watercolor education will await, and in the amphitheater – the Kaunas Dance Theater “Aura” dance performance “Sea” and the Baltic Ballet Theater “Another World”.
In the afternoon, festive processions will move through the city streets. According to the organizers, they gather institutions, organizations, communities, collectives, and companies every year, filling the city center with colors, music, movement, and thousands of celebrating people.
At midnight, a surprise for the 523rd birthday of Panevėžys will await in Senvagė.
On Sunday, Holy Masses will be held for the city and its people, the swing alley will operate in Senvagė, and those interested can embark on an entertaining tour on the Nevėžis River. The festive fair will continue, children’s entertainment will operate, and city museums and galleries will await visitors.
The Panevėžys city weightlifting museum will be presented in Laisvės Square, demonstration boxing workouts and weightlifting competitions will take place, a football town will operate, and a chess simultaneous exhibition will be held. Near the municipality, participants of the international strongmen competition “European Cup 2026” will demonstrate their strength, and car sports fans will await the 5th stage of the Lithuanian car slalom championship on Paliūniškis Street.
