J. Šuklinas openly spoke in mid-April that he went on a cruise from Florida to the Bahamas, and upon returning from America, the man had to undergo surgery.
About the trip and the surgery, J. Šuklinas spoke in April on the LNK show “KK2”. The man said that he and his family possibly caught a virus.
“We were on a cruise ship and then we all started coughing. After a couple of days, it seemed to get better…”, said the member of parliament on the “KK2” show.
The man suspects that this might have happened because, for saving reasons, they chose a cabin without a window on the cruise.
“Now, after reviewing the whole chronology, I realized that we chose the cheapest option – a cabin without windows, and that is not good. You cannot ventilate, only the air conditioner works, you are always in a closed room, and probably because of that we caught some kind of lung infection. The saving then costs very dearly,” he said.
However, the improvement did not last long. Upon returning to Lithuania, he started having ear pain.
“I immediately went to the family doctor. He saw there was inflammation, referred me to an ENT specialist. Antibiotics were prescribed, we started treatment, and for a few days, there was relief. I did not feel pain, only congestion,” the man said on LNK.
Still, the health problems did not end so quickly – an infection started in the ear, which affected the facial nerve.
“My face started to numb. I couldn’t even close my eyes fully, then I really got scared. I went back to the hospital,” the man said on “KK2”.

On the LNK show, the man said that he had to undergo surgery, which, as doctors warned, could be very painful.
“Many faint… The pain can be so strong that just touching it causes immediate loss of consciousness. Luckily, the surgery was performed under anesthesia,” he said.
During the surgery, doctors cleaned the ear: “A drainage channel was inserted, I will have to walk with it for several months, but I don’t feel anything.”
After the surgery, another problem arose – oxygen levels in the lungs decreased.
“I couldn’t cough up, say something… I couldn’t breathe. After anesthesia, a second must pass, and the brain must send a signal that you need to start breathing yourself, but that signal kept not coming, a slight panic arose… You can’t say anything yourself, move your body,” said the member of parliament on the mentioned show.
