Soon “Fenerbahçe” clarified that they signed a two-year contract with the Lithuanian with the option to extend it for another year.
I. Sargiūnas is moving to one of the strongest EuroLeague teams after two seasons with Vilnius “Rytas”.
In the first season with the capital’s team, he still played a modest role, scoring 6.7 points and the same number of efficiency points in the Lithuanian Basketball League, while in the FIBA Champions League he recorded 7 points and 6.2 efficiency points.
He became one of the team leaders in the 2025-2026 campaign, when in the LKL he was already scoring 12.9 points and 14.2 efficiency points, and in the FIBA Champions League – 11.2 points and 7.6 efficiency points.

Playing for the Lithuanian national team, I. Sargiūnas scored 4.4 points in 16 minutes at last year’s European Championship, and in the World Championship qualifiers “windows” he is one of the national team’s leaders – recording 16.8 points in 26 minutes.
I. Sargiūnas in Istanbul will follow the instructions of Šarūnas Jasikevičius, who has been coaching “Fenerbahçe” since December 2023. The team coached by the Kaunas native has won the Turkish championships for the past three seasons, reached the EuroLeague Final Four all three times, and in 2025 became the winner of the prestigious European tournament.
In the “Fenerbahçe” team, Šaras is assisted by two other Lithuanians – Kazys Maksvytis and Mantas Valčiukaitis.
