According to the reader, around 3 p.m., four military aircraft were visible over Lithuania on the flight tracking platform “Flightradar24” – GAF166 (Germany), RRR7227 (United Kingdom), TUAF223 (Turkey), and CFC2968 (Canada). Additionally, a NATO aircraft (NATO22) was circling near Jūrmala in Latvia.
However, the Lithuanian Armed Forces explained to 15min that increased military aviation activity in the Baltic region is currently not considered unusual.
“We want to point out that there is generally more intensive military aviation in our region, so this is not an unusual phenomenon by itself. NATO allies’ activities, air policing missions, exercises, or other planned tasks regularly take place,” the Lithuanian Armed Forces said in a comment to 15min.
