By order of the Panevėžys city municipality, water quality tests are regularly carried out throughout the bathing season. According to the established schedule, water microbiological indicators specified in the Lithuanian hygiene standard are checked every two weeks, and beach sand samples are taken once a month.

According to laboratory test data, the water at the beach near the Nevėžis River dam and the Piniava recreation area near the Lėvė River is clear, the sand is clean, and no waste, debris, or other floating pollutants have been detected.
Tests carried out in the wading pool of the Culture and Recreation Park showed an increased amount of Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci, exceeding the permissible limits set in the Lithuanian hygiene standards. Such microbiological contamination may increase the risk of intestinal infections or cause skin irritations.

To assess whether the contamination was temporary, a repeat water sample will be taken from the wading pool within the next 72 hours. The Municipality will inform the public separately about the new test results.
Residents who experience health disturbances or ailments after bathing are advised to contact their family doctor or another healthcare facility.
