Later that same month, the human rights group FairSquare filed a complaint with the FIFA Ethics Committee, claiming that G. Infantino, by expressing support for D. Trump, violated his duty to remain neutral.
FIFA has never disclosed how this peace award was appointed, given at a time when D. Trump and his administration were seeking to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
NFF President Lise Klaveness said that the federation acted alone in appealing to the FIFA Ethics Committee.

“I think other (federations) knew they could sign if they wanted. We decided that putting pressure on anyone is unhelpful, it would only cause friction,” said L. Klaveness.
G. Infantino openly seeks close ties with D. Trump ahead of the World Cup taking place in the US, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
