The “Air India” aircraft, flying from Phuket Island in Thailand to Delhi in India, encountered turbulence while descending.

Although “Air India” did not specify the number of injured, local media sources report two injured crew members and 10 passengers – all were taken to the airport medical center.
An “Air India” press representative confirmed that on August 4, the aircraft flying from Phuket to Delhi (flight AI2379) encountered brief turbulence, causing the plane to drop momentarily.
“The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, all passengers and crew members disembarked successfully,” the airline commented, reports “The Independent”.
Images from the airport show ambulances waiting at the terminal gates, several passengers with bandaged heads, and some in wheelchairs.
According to the airline, serious injuries were avoided. “A small number of lightly injured passengers and crew members who required medical examination were taken to the airport medical center as a precaution. They are being cared for by the ‘Air India’ ground team and medical staff,” the airline representatives said.
Describing the nightmare experience, a passenger who wished to remain anonymous told the local news agency ANI: “We had been flying for about an hour and a half. It was early morning, everyone was sleeping. Suddenly the plane tilted and rolled for another two or three minutes.”
According to the passenger, several people were injured, including a baby.
“Between 15 and 20 passengers were injured. Someone’s baby was hurt. I have bruises on my groin area, and my brother has injuries to his shoulder and back,” the man said.
Turbulence in aviation is a fairly common phenomenon. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization, in 2023 about 40% of all serious injuries to aircraft passengers were caused by turbulence.
