Now the bill goes to New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s desk. She can sign or veto it. If K. Hochul signs the bill, New York will become the first US state to introduce a moratorium on data centers, which are crucial for the development of artificial intelligence.
The bill also stipulates that after the moratorium period, each new application for a data center must be presented at a public hearing before the government issues a permit.
