The President of Lithuania stated this at a press conference following the high-level meeting of the Coalition of the Willing held in Kyiv on Monday.

“Our intelligence data shows that we must remain vigilant, as there is a risk that ‘false flag’ operations may be carried out in the future. And the main target is critical infrastructure. Because energy sector independence is extremely important to us,” said G. Nausėda.
He noted that in recent years many projects crucial for the resilience of Lithuania’s energy sector have been implemented, including the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Klaipėda and the synchronization and integration of the electricity grids into the continental European electricity network. It is very important for the country to maintain stable electricity production and supply, so various important measures have been taken to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure facilities.
G. Nausėda reminded that Lithuania has a 680-kilometer-long border with Belarus and a 120-kilometer-long border with the Kaliningrad region, so its borders with hostile states are very long.

“The likelihood that something could happen – hybrid activity, illegal migration, kinetic operations against us – is indeed very high,” he emphasized once again.
Lithuania expects NATO allies’ reinforcement in case of Russian provocations.
At the same time, G. Nausėda stated that one of the main challenges is air defense. The country aims to develop the necessary capabilities to detect, intercept, and destroy drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles. In this context, cooperation with Ukrainians and exchange of experience is very important, emphasized the President of Lithuania.
