As stated in the announcement released this week, this year in the first half, women made 7,441 wills, and men – 4,759. Meanwhile, in 2025 women made 16.3 thousand wills, men – about 10 thousand.
This year, most wills were made by residents aged 70 to 80 – 3,713, and aged 60 to 70 – 3,367 wills.
According to the ministry, a will, which states what property and to whom a person leaves after death, is most often certified by a notary. A person can also write a personal will, which must be handwritten by the testator.

A personal will, submitted for safekeeping to a notary, is registered in the Wills Register. If the personal will was not submitted for safekeeping to a notary, it must be submitted for certification to the court no later than one year after the testator’s death.
Data from the Wills Register about made wills and facts of inheritance acceptance or refusal are provided only after the testator’s death.
