Minister of Finance: Poland could enter the top three most influential European countries

„We will secure a place in this top three because for the first time in decades, such economic, political, and technological conditions have arisen that we must take advantage of together,“ said the minister speaking at the European Financial Congress (EFC) in Sopot.

He noted that Poland is already among the six largest economies in the European Union and participates in G20 activities. Based on the latest European Commission forecasts, he stated that Poland is one of three countries whose economic growth prospects have not been downgraded. He mentioned several positive economic indicators, including first-quarter GDP growth figures that exceeded expectations, an inflation rate that was lower than forecasted, and better-than-expected purchasing managers’ index (PMI) data.

„All this shows that the Polish economy is characterized by above-average strength and resilience,“ said A. Domanski.

However, he added that entering the top three largely depends on whether Poland transitions from a simple importer of foreign technologies to a country that develops its own capacities, especially in the fields of national security and energy transition.

A. Domanski said that securing capital is the second important pillar of Poland’s strategy. „We need to look for new instruments to finance the Polish economy, so we are finalizing work aimed at expanding the scope of the Export Credit Insurance Corporation (KUKE),“ he added.

The Ministry of Finance is preparing to launch a new guarantee system, temporarily called „KUKE 2.0“. The program aims to mobilize capital for business development, increase domestic production capacity, and expand the participation of Polish companies in large investment projects.

According to A. Domanski, this initiative could additionally release 10 billion zlotys (2.36 billion euros) in investments. The program will support small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large projects in the areas of security, transition to green energy, and advanced technologies.

„I am convinced that everyone who invests in Poland today is investing in one of the greatest economic growth stories in Europe,“ emphasized A. Domanski.
