Meanwhile, last summer D. Medvedev announced that from January to early July 2025, more than 210 thousand people had signed the contract. This is 10 thousand more than during the corresponding period this year.

The former president also dismissed reports of a possible new wave of mobilization in Russia. According to him, such statements have nothing to do with reality and are part of an information campaign.

“The enemy’s attempts to spread all kinds of nonsense about mobilization being prepared in the country are nothing but a false provocation. This is part of the propaganda against the elections. They, of course, are trying to destabilize the situation in our country, create negative moods,” Interfax news agency quoted D. Medvedev as saying.

European officials also do not rule out the possibility of mobilization in Russia.

Sources close to the Kremlin, cited by Reuters news agency, reported Vladimir Putin’s readiness for further escalation of the war. According to sources from “Viorstka,” the Russian authorities may impose martial law and announce mobilization after the September elections to the State Duma, and some so-called military bloggers have already estimated the possible scale of the draft campaign at up to 1.2 million people.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky predicted that mobilization could be announced in early October if Ukraine and its allies fail to significantly complicate Russian logistics and strengthen sanctions pressure on Moscow.
