“I am pleased with your drive and maximalism, which has led you to the best universities in the world, as well as the fact that the state was able to contribute by providing these scholarships. You are facing extremely valuable and interesting years of study, and Lithuania will be very much looking forward to your return home. Here you will always be able to realize your dreams and goals on the strong foundations of education you will acquire,” said Prime Minister M. Sinkevičius.
Minister R. Popovienė was glad that the “Next 100” competition attracts dozens of ambitious young people every year who have already enrolled in the best universities in the world. “We send you off not only to gain new knowledge but also to represent Lithuania – abroad you will become ambassadors of our country. But I am most proud that after your studies you will return here and contribute to strengthening the fields of education, engineering, and mathematics important to the state,” the minister said while congratulating the laureates.
The “Next 100” competition was organized for the ninth time. Scholarships are awarded to the winners to cover studies at universities ranked among the top 20 in global rankings.
This year, study support was granted to students admitted to the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford, Birmingham, London Arts, and Stockholm Arts, as well as the Pratt Institute, the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and the Royal Academy of Music.

This year’s competition laureates will study education, education assessment, computer science, mathematics, engineering, political science, law, public administration, philosophy, illustration, curating and collections, saxophone, cello, composition, and contemporary circus arts.
A total of 72 students participated in the 2026 competition. When selecting the winners, the commission formed by the State Studies Foundation, which administers the support, evaluates the international ranking of the chosen university, the student’s motivation, recommendation letters, and CV.
Selected candidates are awarded up to 61 thousand EUR for one academic year. Over all the years of the competition, out of 215 students who won support, 123 have already completed their studies.
The competition was held for the first time in 2018, commemorating the centenary of the restoration of the Lithuanian state. The name “Next 100” symbolizes the newly begun century of the state.
