Lithuania allocated 600 thousand euros to seven Ukrainian organizations to recover kidnapped children

Funds allocated according to the call for proposals of the “Children First. Protection of Ukraine’s Future” program.

A total of 600 thousand euros in support is allocated for the projects.

These organizations were honored on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day at the “Children First” awards ceremony held at the Lithuanian Embassy in Kyiv.

Lithuania’s First Lady Diana Nausėdienė, who attended the event, stated that the organizations took on one of the most difficult and important tasks raised by this war – to find Ukrainian children, help them return home, support their families, and ensure that crimes committed against them are properly documented and investigated.

Over the next 6–12 months, seven selected organizations will implement projects aimed at creating practical opportunities for Ukrainian children and their families to return from deportation and temporarily occupied territories.

Work will also be done to hold perpetrators accountable for the crimes committed.

According to the Central Project Management Agency, a total of 23 applications were received to participate in the mentioned program.

“Children First. Protection of Ukraine’s Future” is a Lithuanian support program dedicated to Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia. It consists of four interconnected directions: returning children, ensuring accountability for crimes, rehabilitation and reintegration of children, and strengthening Ukraine’s child care system.

Lithuania intends to allocate no less than 10 million euros to these areas.
