As a diplomat, history itself juxtaposed two dates as if to emphasize that mistakes must be corrected.
“Both dates side by side – the division of the world according to the whims of the great powers and the day of the nation’s freedom boldly standing against an enemy several times larger – serve as a reminder that the world is not perfect, and the victory of good over evil is not guaranteed, as that only happens in fairy tales,” he noted.
L. Linkevičius believes that at the same time this is a reproach to all of us.
“Repeating learned slogans and spells – ‘Together until victory,’ ‘Never again,’ ‘Ukraine will win or has already won’ – will not achieve the goal; it requires effort and concrete actions.
But the reality is that today Ukrainian diplomats and soldiers are fighting for every ‘Patriot’ missile. They are tragically scarce, to be able to defend even a little against Russian ballistics. The enemy, sensing the taste of blood, lashes out indiscriminately,” the ambassador explained.
He recalled the recent strike on a shopping center in Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih, where 16 people died. As the diplomat noted, as if confirming that it was not a mistaken target – half an hour later, another strike hit the rescuers working there.
“Now Ukraine needs missiles, weapons, ammunition the most. Zelensky urged imposing such sanctions that Russia would howl. Many important guests have again come to Kyiv to demonstrate their solidarity and support. This has happened many times before.
