In a video published by one of Russia’s media outlets, filmed on Sunday during V. Putin’s visit to Saint Petersburg, it can be seen that behind him, where warships usually dominate during the celebration, a large image of a submarine was displayed.

Instead of the usual naval parades in Saint Petersburg and Kronstadt, the program was limited to concerts, museum exhibitions, and commemorative ceremonies.
The traditional celebration was also canceled at Russian naval bases near the Baltic, Black, and Azov Seas, as well as in the Arctic and Pacific Ocean regions.
This year, the annual naval parade was not even planned in Saint Petersburg – this is the second consecutive year that the event has been canceled.

More than two months ago, Russia held the annual May 9 Victory Day parade in Moscow but abandoned the traditional convoy of armored vehicles, fearing drone strikes from Ukraine.
The Russian authorities have not officially explained why the navy did not participate in the usual ceremony. However, it is likely that this decision also reflects concerns about possible strikes by Ukrainian armed forces on Russian ships.
