E. Rinkevičius said that the drone war in Ukraine is developing at a “lightning speed,” and warned that the air war preparedness measures currently being developed may already be outdated next year.

“We see that air defense, drone defense, and missile defense have serious problems. And let’s be honest. Ukraine has them. All of Europe and NATO have them,” he said.

E. Rinkevičius noted that if Russia decides to launch several missiles into European territory, “today it would be a serious challenge for many countries to cope with it.”

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, based on intelligence data, previously said that Russia plans hybrid attacks against countries supporting Ukraine.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys confirmed that Vilnius also has intelligence data about Russia preparing hybrid attacks against Ukraine’s allies.

In a new security situation assessment provided to the LETA news agency by the Latvian Constitution Protection Bureau (SAB), it is stated that in the Baltic countries and throughout NATO there is a possibility that Russia will try to escalate the security situation with unconventional attacks, including sabotage acts, provocations, and other smaller-scale assaults.

As reported by LETA, Latvia and Europe are preparing for a difficult autumn and winter, with Russia continuing to increase aggression. E. Rinkevičius wrote about this on social networks, warning that “further escalation is very likely.”

At the same time, the facts currently do not show any preparation for a large-scale Russian invasion of NATO or European Union territory, as there is no necessary concentration of forces for such an invasion, said the president.
