The operation involved 55 officers from the chief police commissariats of Panevėžys, Šiauliai, and Vilnius counties, 8 employees of the State Tax Inspectorate, and 6 employees of the State Food and Veterinary Service.

During coordinated actions, 39 searches were conducted in various meat sector companies, small retail outlets, and marketplaces. During these, officers seized possible unofficial accounting documents and other materials significant for the pre-trial investigation. Additionally, 28 individuals were interviewed. The interviews provided information important to the investigation related to possible tax evasion.
Officers continue the pre-trial investigation, analyze the collected information, and carry out other necessary procedural actions. If tax violations are identified, companies may have to pay unpaid taxes to the state budget.
The pre-trial investigation under Article 220 (“Providing false data about income, profit, or property”) and Article 222 (“Fraudulent financial accounting management and/or organization”) of the Criminal Code is led by a prosecutor from the Criminal Prosecution Division of the Panevėžys District Prosecutor’s Office.
