According to K. Dmitriev, Russia and the US plan to sign such an agreement on Friday, June 5.

“Speaking of the tunnel, tomorrow we will have news: we are signing an agreement to continue the design of the tunnel. So the tunnel will be,” he told reporters at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum when asked about the “Putin-Trump tunnel.”

“This will be one of the largest infrastructure projects between our countries,” he added.

Last October, V. Putin’s special envoy proposed a project for a tunnel that would connect Russia and Alaska across the Bering Strait.

He then stated that the project would cost more than 65 billion US dollars (55.8 billion euros) if the tunnel were built using traditional methods, and less than 8 billion US dollars (6.8 billion euros) if technologies from Elon Musk’s (Ilon Mask’s) company “The Boring Company” were used.

In December, it was reported in the media that US President Donald Trump’s (Donald Tramp’s) administration had handed over a set of documents to its European counterparts outlining its vision for Russia’s return to the global economy.

In February, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it had submitted proposals to the US for the removal of “serious obstacles” to a full “revitalization” of relations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky then announced that Russia had offered the United States a cooperation package worth 12 trillion US dollars (10.3 trillion euros).
