The payment can only be granted to those doctors who are included in the priority list of missing healthcare specialists in Klaipėda. This year, there are 12 medics on the list – four family doctors, a neurologist, child psychiatrists, and other disease specialists are missing.
If there are any willing, the money will be paid to them from the city budget; funds for such motivation are provided in the municipality’s strategic action plan.
On Thursday, the City Council unanimously approved this decision.
“An opportunity will be created to attract emergency medicine doctors to state public healthcare institutions operating in Klaipėda city, which will ensure the provision of quality healthcare services to residents,” the explanatory note of the decision states.
In exchange for this municipal support, doctors must work continuously for at least three years and not less than one full-time position in a city health or medical institution, and declare their residence in Klaipėda. A candidate for the 30,000 euro incentive should also not have worked in Klaipėda healthcare institutions in the past 3 years.

The municipality has also provided that children of incoming doctors are given priority for a place in school or kindergarten.
All candidates for the payment will be evaluated by a special working group, which will assess whether the doctor meets all the requirements.
If after receiving the support he leaves Klaipėda earlier than the agreed time, the money should be returned.
