  • Independent riding of electric scooters on streets is allowed only from 16 years old, and with a certificate after special courses – from 14 years old.
  • Since the beginning of this year, helmets have become mandatory for all scooter riders.
  • The maximum allowed speed is 20 km/h, and when riding on sidewalks or paths near pedestrians, it is mandatory to slow down to their walking pace – no more than 7 km/h.

During it, a lot of dangerous behavior was recorded: teenagers and children were speeding, maneuvering between people, and performing dangerous tricks. The police identified five traffic violations – four children without licenses were riding uninsured and technically unchecked electric mopeds, and another teenager under 16 was riding an electric scooter without having completed safety courses.

Compliance with the new rules in the park will be supervised by police officers. The municipality will consider applying the same traffic safety measures in other parks and squares in Klaipėda.
