The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned on Tuesday what it called an unjustified Israeli attack on an airbase in the northwest of the country.
Syria “strongly condemns the Israeli airstrikes targeting” the Abu al Duhur military airbase in Idlib province, “and considers them an unjustified act of aggression,” the Foreign Ministry statement said, calling on the international community and the United Nations (UN) Security Council to “take a firm stance against the ongoing Israeli violations of Syria’s sovereignty.”

Israel did not comment on this incident.
The Abu al Duhur base has not been used since 2012 and is currently guarded by Syrian Defense Ministry forces, a source said earlier, without providing information about possible casualties.
Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria after Islamist forces, which the Jewish state considers jihadists, overthrew the country’s longtime leader Bashar al Assad in December 2024.
