Discussions are expected to take place until Wednesday in Houston, the oil-rich state of Texas, USA.
Delegations from the world’s largest economies, including China, India, Japan, and Germany, will participate in the meetings. Representatives of the main oil-producing countries also plan to attend.
Russian diplomats indicated on Saturday that Moscow will also send several of its officials.
The unexpected appearance of Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov two weeks ago caused a stir at the previous G20 meeting. Ukraine’s allies in Europe expressed disappointment with the US decision to invite Russia, as it contradicted efforts to isolate Moscow.
The meetings in Houston are taking place at a time when oil and gas prices are rapidly rising due to the war in the Middle East, and Europe is trying to fill its gas storage ahead of the coming winter.
