“The activities of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union are important in strengthening citizenship and preparedness for various crisis situations, so we see the sense in creating suitable conditions for this activity in the Vilnius district, while responsibly assessing the long-term possibilities of using the building,” says Vilnius district mayor Robertas Duchnevičius.

The statement indicates that the decision is also supported by the Vilnius district community organizations union. It claims that the long-term use of such infrastructure would be beneficial not only for the riflemen.

“The direct and indirect beneficiaries of this decision would also be the communities of the Vilnius district, youth, volunteers, and other residents participating in activities organized by the riflemen or carried out together with community organizations,” the union states in a letter to the administration.
