Health Ministry spokesperson Abdullah al Sanadas stated that 25 ambulances were sent to Kuwait International Airport and indicated that “63 injured persons were received and distributed to hospitals.”

“This includes severe injuries (…), including head wounds, brain hemorrhages, amputations, and blast injuries,” the statement said.

A source at the airport told news agency AFP that the deceased person was an Indian citizen who was at Kuwait airport.

Airport operations halted

After the strike, authorities temporarily suspended airport operations and redirected flights to other airports.

Later, the airline Kuwait Airways resumed flights from the fourth terminal, as the first terminal, from which international flights operate, was damaged.

The US military reported that two Iranian missiles launched at Kuwait did not reach their targets or crashed during flight, while three missiles launched at Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini forces.

The US Central Command stated in a social media post on “X” that another wave of Iranian drones targeting US forces in Kuwait missed their intended targets, adding that Iranian ballistic missiles launched at neighboring countries also did not reach their targets.

This strike marks a new escalation phase in the oil-rich Persian Gulf country, where relative calm had prevailed since April 8, when Iranian ceasefire was announced.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned US strikes the day before and accused Washington of attacking an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and a telecommunications tower on Qeshm Island.

Iran also accused Kuwait and Bahrain, claiming their territory and infrastructure were used to support US military operations against Iran. Tehran emphasized that it reserves the “right to self-defense” and is prepared to respond to any further attacks.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Iran suspended talks with the United States over Israeli strikes in Lebanon and stated it would not return to dialogue until Israel stops fighting in Lebanon and Gaza. At the same time, Washington said it had not received an official notification from Tehran about the suspension of talks.
