International Car-Free Day – 90% discount on train tickets

“Car-Free Day is a great opportunity to change usual travel habits even for a short time and try more sustainable alternatives. I believe that the more people choose public transport for daily or leisure trips, the more convenient and sustainable transport system we create together,” says Kristina Meidė, head of „LTG Link“.

For tickets for local routes on September 22, purchased online and via the mobile app, „LTG Link“ offers a 90% discount. For example, for one adult traveling the Vilnius–Kaunas route, a second-class ticket will cost from 0.56 Eur, and traveling from Vilnius to Klaipėda – from 2.68 Eur.

Last year, nearly 32,000 passengers chose to travel by train on International Car-Free Day.

The discount applied on International Car-Free Day is one of two annual initiatives when „LTG Link“ passengers are given the opportunity to travel at a symbolic price. The same 90% discount is traditionally applied on May 30, when Train Travelers’ Day is celebrated. Today, the “Train Travelers’ Club” unites more than 170,000 members who contribute to more sustainable mobility in Lithuania by exchanging cars for trains.
