This morning in the Švenčionys district, a camera installed near a game luring site captured something hunters definitely did not expect to see – as many as 27 foreign citizens illegally crossing the Lithuanian state border.
Noticing the unusual sight, the hunters immediately passed the information to the State Border Guard Service officers. The response was swift – the individuals who illegally crossed the border were soon detained.
This incident once again proves that Lithuanian hunters are a vigilant, responsible, and civic-minded community. The surveillance cameras used in the forests not only help to understand wildlife but can also become an important aid in ensuring the security of our state,” the society’s page states.
