A construction worker discovered these explosives on Thursday around 3 p.m. local time (4 p.m. Lithuanian time) while carrying out earthworks in the Wola district, reported a private television channel, citing information from the Warsaw police.
On Friday morning, explosive ordnance disposal experts began the operation. A nearby intersection was closed to traffic, and as a precaution, as many as 4,000 people were evacuated from nearby office buildings.
A fire brigade stood guard at the fenced-off security zone while specialists worked to safely remove the explosives.
