The famous man told how the dream of a beautiful coexistence in the countryside turned into a real battlefield. A calm afternoon suddenly became a fight for life, ending in bloodshed.

Dreams sometimes collapse. Two puppies, Šmikis and Tundra, settled with me. Illegitimate. Short (not Donald’s,) love adventure puppies, as they used to be called in the countryside. In winter, when the Nemunas froze, a hunting stray dog from the other bank ran to a friend’s kennel bitch, and so 5 puppies appeared in the world. Two moved to me. I thought it would be more fun for both me and Sidas. And safer for the rooster Petson III – and his flock of chickens. Such lovely, beautiful puppies. Names according to character.
So we lived happily. Until yesterday. Until my son Vincent came to help bring gravel with a cart for the chickens. At that time, we let the chickens out of the enclosure so they wouldn’t interfere with improving living conditions. According to Laisvė – chickens without gravel, eggs – without a future.
And then IT happened. Everyone’s beloved Šmikis and Tundra heard the call of their ancestors and attacked the chickens to protect them. Like orcs at a toilet. The battle trumpets sounded – meat served!!! A big battle took place. Let’s call it the Rabbit Hutch skirmish. Because everything happened in front of the rabbit enclosure. Sidas watched the maneuvers closely with the rabbits. My son and I (twice even falling) saved the chickens and the rooster. Petson III was left without a tail. The chickens’ clucking was heard within a 10 km radius. And the crazed Šmikis and Tundra bit a chicken with their teeth and aimed to kill them as quickly as possible. We managed to pull them out of the jaws of death.

But fear has big eyes. Part of the flock retreated maneuvering into the forest. Šmikis and Tundra chased after with a sudden attack. There we could no longer help from behind.
The result – two chickens were seriously injured. Šmikis and Tundra, overwhelmed by adrenaline and not understanding anything. And for a long time, the clucking of the torn flock returning to the chicken coop was heard with reproaches and grievances.
Order was restored. Loss of living force – 2 hens seriously injured. Had to perform coup de grâce.
We will eat chicken for a few days. Such are the harsh rules of life.
Moral – better gravel in the pile than chickens without heads.
