A major restructuring of the Vilnius City Municipality administration took place in May 2019 – shortly after Remigijus Šimašius was elected mayor for the second time in direct elections. Povilas Poderskis then continued his work as the administration director.

It was then stated that an “unprecedented administrative reform in Lithuania” was taking place in the Vilnius municipality. Ten structural units – departments – were abolished, and divisions became the largest units in the administration.

Currently, the municipality has 25 divisions and 6 groups.
At least one department will be returned
But at least one department will reappear in the municipal administration in the near future.
