8 minutes after Vaidas Magdušauskas’s shot, the ball shook the crossbar of the Žalgiris goal and bounced off towards the goal line. In a questionable episode, the refereeing team decided that the ball did not enter the goal; there was no VAR in this match, so the result remained unchanged.
Perhaps somewhat against the logic of the game, a goal was scored against Banga in the 33rd minute. Jurijus Kendyšas, at the tip of a beautiful attack, left no chance for the visiting goalkeeper.
The joy in Vilnius lasted very briefly. Already in the 35th minute, V. Magdušauskas sent Ignas Venckus one-on-one against Vincentas Šarkauskas, and the forward equalized the score – 1:1.
Once again, lightning struck the home team’s goal in the 54th minute, when after a quick attack following passes from V. Magdušauskas and I. Venckus, the central defender Deividas Malžinskas finished with a wonderful shot at the tip of the attack.
In the 66th minute, the Gargždai team launched another great attack, and after a skillful pass from V. Magdušauskas himself, Rokas Filipavičius sent the ball into the Žalgiris goal.

During the remaining time of the match, the Vilnius team launched an assault on the visitors’ goal, but managed to break through the Banga goalkeeper only at the start of the first minute of added time. Matas Vareika’s shot from the penalty area line reduced the difference to a minimum – 2:3.
Žalgiris ultimately could not avoid defeat and lost to Banga at home for the first time in league history.
This season, Vilnius has not beaten Banga in three matches. The first match in the capital on April 17 ended in a 1:1 draw, and on June 20 in Gargždai, the hosts crushed their opponents 3:0.
After this victory, Banga has 36 points and rises to 4th place in the tournament table. Meanwhile, Žalgiris (34 points) dropped to 6th position.
