It is not yet known what extent of damage was caused to the arena and its dome.

“We do not yet know what losses have been made. We will still assess them,” said the head of the Sports Department.

Powerful storm

According to the Fire Protection and Rescue Department, since 6 a.m. firefighters have received over 800 reports about trees or power lines fallen on the roadway.

In the morning, the highest call volume was recorded in Southern Lithuania, later it moved to the central part of the country, and in the afternoon most reports came from Western Lithuania.

Firefighters are most often called to remove trees and broken branches fallen on the roadway. There are also many reports about trees fallen on power grids.

Meanwhile, according to the “Energy Distribution Operator” (ESO), the number of residents experiencing electricity supply problems reaches 155 thousand.

Due to power supply disruptions caused by bad weather conditions, delays of some trains are also possible.
