In Lithuania, the European Heritage Days events begin, opening – at Dotnuva Church

From September 17 to 27, there will be educational walks, meetings with archaeologists, researchers, restorers, architects, art historians, and historians, as well as educational and creative workshops.

Residents will also have the opportunity to visit cultural heritage sites usually closed to visitors, visit exhibitions, participate in conferences, bike rides, and games.

The main opening event of the European Heritage Days on Thursday will take place in Dotnuva, at the Church of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It will be attended by the Minister of Culture Lukas Alsys, the Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Vidmantas Bezaras, and the parish priest of Dotnuva Church Giedrius Maskolaitis.

The event will also include solemn awards honoring individuals and communities who have contributed to the preservation of cultural heritage.

Before the main opening event on Thursday, events will also take place in Ukmergė, Dubingiai, Rietavas, the birthplace of Jonas Basanavičius in Ožkabaliai, Burbiškis Manor, the birthplace of Maironis in Bernotai, Klaipėda, Merkinė, Kretuonai, and Žagarė.
