„I Just Want Sex“: Famous Actress Starred in an N-18 Film – Unusual Protocol Applied to BDSM Scenes

It is stated that a “laboratory” environment was created on the film set. Instead of relying solely on intuition, every movement – from domination to nudity – was discussed with an intimacy coordinator. However, it was the unusual system created by the actors themselves that became the main tool of mutual trust between them.

“Cooper (actor Cooper Hoffman) and I had a very open conversation before filming began. We used a scale from 1 to 10 to determine the comfort level for every minute of physical contact, every somewhat intimate scene in the film. If I said, ‘Okay, now I’m going to slap you,’ we agreed on what number that was on the scale. This allowed us to be completely free in front of the camera because we knew exactly where the other person’s limit was,” reveals O. Wilde.

“Since these were my first sex scenes in my acting career, I was very tense. Olivia was the person who brought calm. The pain scale method and the constant question ‘is everything okay?’ turned what could have been a traumatic experience into just a technical, trust-based job,” said C. Hoffman.

O. Wilde emphasized that the BDSM scenes shown on screen require greater technical precision than, for example, a simple kiss: “Paradoxically, the more rules and boundaries we set, the more relaxed and wild we could feel on the set.”

In the drama full of erotic scenes “I Only Want Sex,” all the power is given into the hands of a woman. Erika Tracy, played by O. Wilde, completely controls the situation not only in the script but also on the set. Yes, according to director Gregg Araki, this ensured that her younger colleague felt safe at every step.

“This allows for a strong message about a modern, ethical approach to provocative filmmaking, where ‘scandal’ on screen is achieved through maximum safety behind the scenes. That was our main goal – to create a kind of ‘safety protocol’ that would allow both actors and the rest of the staff to feel comfortable,” the director, considered a pioneer of the “New Queer Cinema” genre, reveals.

“I Only Want Sex” tells the story of Eliot (actor C. Hoffman), a good-hearted but unmotivated twenty-year-old whose wild sexual fantasies quickly come true when he gets a job with a famous artist and, to put it mildly, provocateur Erika Tracy (actor O. Wilde).

When Erika breaks office boundaries and turns Eliot into her sexual muse, their erotically charged relationship makes him question his own desires, boundaries, and relationships with a tense girl (played in the film by the famous Charli XCX) and a somewhat depressed roommate (actor Chase Sui Wonders).

As the stakes rise and the power dynamics shift, the film combines jokes, romantic yet comedic incidents, secrets upon secrets, and even murder through the colorful and sharp visual language for which Araki is best known.

The unusually colorful and open film “I Only Want Sex,” awaited by everyone, especially representatives of Generation Z, will start showing in cinemas from this Friday, August 28.
