41 mm HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 not only smaller but also different
I have always liked HUAWEI’s attention to detail. Some smartwatch manufacturers limit themselves to giving the case a round shape, maybe a few elements typical of classic watches, but such a watch still looks like an electronic device. HUAWEI’s approach is different – not to imitate the silhouette of a mechanical watch, but truly to adopt what has been perfected for decades in classic watch design: the balance of proportions, the shape of the crown, the aesthetics of the case and strap connection, metal finishing, and restrained decoration. Therefore, the design of GT series models retains the principle of classical watchmaking that quality and character are usually created not by one striking detail but by a combination of small, precisely thought-out solutions.

The classic, round-shaped 41 mm HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 watch case is visually light, its lines are soft, and the watch looks much more subtle than the larger GT family models.
The case is made of stainless steel, the screen is covered with a special composition, thin, very transparent, shock- and scratch-resistant aluminosilicate glass. While the 46 mm GT7 models are massive, and some versions even demonstratively luxurious, the 41 mm watch’s appearance charms with lightness, provided not only by the thin case but also by the slightly metal strap attachment loops that pull the strap away from the case – such openly displayed and consciously highlighted elements are typical of jewelry watches. Another nuance is the proportions of the case and screen: the bezel surrounding the screen is narrow enough for the watch to look light and modern but distinct enough to highlight the watch’s shape.
The 41 mm watch’s appearance charms with lightness.
On the right side of the case is an integrated knurled crown – already a traditional, decorative, and well-visible HUAWEI watch detail borrowed from the world of mechanical watches. It may seem like a small detail, but in smartwatch design, such details determine whether the watch looks like an electronic device or an elegant watch.
The 41 mm HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 is offered in four shades: blue (bluish case and blue fluoroelastomer strap), white (silver case and white composite leather strap), pink (steel-colored case and pink fluoroelastomer strap), and gray (gold-colored case and gray composite leather strap).
Each of these combinations can be matched with a corresponding dial style, so different versions gain quite different characters: the pink model is youthful, the blue one sportier, the gray one more solid and luxurious. When fastened, the end of the new EasyCross fluoroelastomer straps hides, fits snugly to the wrist, and catches less on clothing. The leather straps have a classic buckle.

Smaller watch – long-lasting battery
Before starting to talk about the technical capabilities of the watch, let’s briefly discuss the battery topic because the battery life greatly affects how you actually use the watch. Since the first WATCH GT model, HUAWEI has chosen a clear direction – one of the most important features of a smartwatch must be long battery life. In the 41 mm case, there is no room for a larger and higher-capacity battery, so the operating time of smaller smartwatches is often shorter.
HUAWEI solves this problem by using new-generation, high-density batteries, optimizing software energy consumption, so even watches with a small case operate for a long time. The 41 mm HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 battery life is 7 days under normal use and up to 14 days in lighter mode. Of course, the actual result also depends on how much you exercise, whether continuous health monitoring is enabled, how many notifications you receive, etc.
More solid skiing mode
Although the 41 mm HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 design is elegant, seemingly unrelated to sports watches, this appearance is deceptive: a lot of attention is given to sports and health monitoring. One of the biggest innovations is skiing. There are separate skiing modes for outdoor and indoor use.
In indoor arenas, the GPS signal can be weak or completely blocked, so in such cases, the watch relies on sensor data and changes in body position and altitude. The watch distinguishes real skiing time from rest or lift rides – this is much more accurate than getting a combined result after two hours that mixes all activities.

Outdoors, there are even more possibilities: more than 3,000 ski resort maps are offered, with trails of different difficulty levels, lifts, and the watch can show the skier’s location. In a new, unfamiliar ski resort, such watch information is very valuable – no need to constantly pull the phone out of your pocket.
These functions clearly show how the latest smartwatches differ from older models.
The HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 not only records the route but also counts turns, can distinguish short from medium or longer turns, and measures the acceleration affecting the skier in turns, so after descending the mountain, you can evaluate not only speed or altitude difference but also analyze skiing technique. These functions clearly show how the latest smartwatches differ from older models: previously, they provided statistics about what you did; now they analyze how you exercised.
Valuable information for cyclists and runners
A lot of attention is also given to cycling. The planned route can be imported into the HUAWEI Health app and sent to the HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 watch, so before setting off, you can review upcoming climbs, their number, length, and slope. While riding, the watch automatically recognizes the start of a climb and can show the slope, how much of the climb has been completed, and how much remains.
Anyone who has cycled longer in mountains or hilly areas knows that having such information changes how you distribute your energy. Another interesting feature is the warning about sharp turns: by evaluating the uploaded route, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 recognizes sharp road bends and, considering the riding speed, can warn if approaching a turn too fast.

Runners also get a lot of information. Besides the usual data – distance run, pace, or heart rate – the HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 analyzes running technique. The watch evaluates how long the foot touches the ground while running and whether the load is evenly distributed between both legs, measures vertical body oscillation, and calculates running power. These indicators allow assessing how efficiently your body works while running. Maps can also be downloaded to the watch, so you can run without a phone.

An important part of this watch is the integrated dual-frequency GPS system that quickly and accurately determines location.

Time to exercise!
The HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 watch includes 30 short exercise routines for various body areas – neck, shoulders, wrists, lower back, legs. They are designed for situations when there is no time or place for a normal workout: sitting at the computer for several hours – time to stretch shoulders and neck; waiting a long time at the airport – you can do a few stretching exercises; stopped at a gas station during a car trip – a little exercise won’t hurt.
HUAWEI even created a special playful dial with a panda that reacts to activity and performed short exercises. It may seem like a game, but it makes you get up from the chair and move, thus achieving its goal.

Skiing, cycling, short exercises – just a very small part of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 7’s sports capabilities. The watch supports more than 110 sports modes – from running, walking, swimming in the pool or open water, hiking, and triathlon to workouts on various exercise machines.
The watch supports more than 110 sports modes.
In some sports, the watch not only measures heart rate, counts workout duration and calories burned, for example, when playing badminton or tennis, the dedicated apps can record the number of racket swings, maximum swing speed, and hits from the right and left.
Summarized information instead of many numbers
When buying a new watch, it is interesting for a while to monitor heart rate, blood oxygen concentration, heart rate variability, sleep duration and phases, stress level, but later interest fades because many do not understand what these indicators say about their well-being.
The HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 includes a health function innovation called Physical Readiness, which presents the most important collected health data in an easily understandable rating – how ready your body is today for physical exertion. The system analyzes sleep, heart activity data, heart rate variability, and other health indicators and divides physical condition into five levels.
This is a fairly new direction in the development of smartwatches.
The highest level indicates that the body is well recovered and ready for greater physical exertion; lower ratings suggest behaving more calmly that day. A brief morning summary is also provided, in which the watch summarizes the previous day’s physical activity and night data and gives a daily recommendation.
This is a fairly new direction in the development of smartwatches: previously, the focus was on the number of sensors, their accuracy, and measuring as many health parameters as possible; now that all this exists, the more important direction is to explain clearly what those data mean.
Payments, compatibility
One practical innovation in Lithuania is contactless payments via Curve Pay, allowing different payment cards to be combined in one system. Payments can be made even if you left your phone or wallet at home.

Another important, unchanging feature is that the HUAWEI watch is not “tied” to a specific phone manufacturer or operating system. The HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 is compatible with both Android and iOS phones, and the watch pairs with the phone via the HUAWEI Health app, where sports and health data are collected and processed.
Evaluation
The 41 mm HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 is a subtle watch that matches various clothing styles. Classic design stainless steel case, somewhat unexpected but very interesting color combinations of the case and straps, fits well to the wrist, lightweight, almost unnoticeable on the wrist.
However, the elegant appearance hides very large sports and health monitoring capabilities. Add a week without a charger (in normal mode), 5 ATM water resistance (ability to swim in a lake, pool), an AMOLED screen with up to 3,000 nits brightness (information is well readable in sunlight), and we have a watch where you no longer have to choose between attractive, elegant appearance and functionality because you can have both.
