On Friday, at the prologue of the “Baja España Aragón” in Spain, the “Gurtam Toyota Gazoo Racing Baltics” crew Benediktas Vanagas and Aisvydas Paliukėnas took third place among the FIA European Baja Cup participants and 19th in the overall classification.

The result of the nearly 7-kilometer prologue is not included in the final race time – it is used to form the starting order for Saturday. Therefore, the main battle in Spain will begin on Saturday, when the athletes will face more than 330 kilometers of special stages.
“In Aragón, the prologue requires maximum attack from the first meter, and today at the start I left a bit too much reserve. The result is not what we wanted, but we have lost nothing – the real race starts tomorrow. Last year the situation was similar, and after the first special stage, we were in the top ten. We have almost 500 competitive kilometers ahead, so the most important thing now is to do our job well,” said B. Vanagas.

Last year at “Baja España Aragón,” B. Vanagas finished eighth overall and second among the FIA European Baja Cup participants.
B. Vanagas arrived at this year’s stage as the leader of the FIA European Baja Cup – before the Spain stage, the Lithuanian has 216 points and leads his closest rival Paulo Rodrigues by eight points.
