Deonas Thompson has officially joined the North Carolina University basketball team’s staff of specialists.
Having played at the University of North Carolina from 2007-2010, the now 37-year-old American will assist Michael Malone – a former famous NBA coach who led the Denver Nuggets from 2015-2025 and brought the team to the NBA championship title in 2023.
In the NCAA team, D. Thompson will be responsible for player development, having gained a lot of experience throughout his career.
The tall player, holding both US and Ivory Coast citizenships, has played in sixteen different countries and represented 22 clubs over 16 years.

In 2019, D. Thompson also played for Kaunas Žalgiris, with whom he reached the EuroLeague playoffs and became the Lithuanian champion.
Besides Lithuania, the forward also played in Greece, Slovenia, Germany, China, Israel, Turkey, Serbia, Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Libya, and Indonesia.
