One of the brightest Lithuanian quad bike athletes, 2025 Lithuanian motocross champion Gediminas Volkavičius openly admits that the opportunity to compete in the world championship in his own country is special:
“It is a great honor and responsibility. I want to show the best result so that the spectators can be proud of Lithuanian athletes and become even more involved in this sport.”
The athlete also highlights the Mickūnai track, which is one of his favorites in Lithuania:
“It is a very technical track with unique elements that allow athletes’ skills to shine.”
According to him, home advantage can be an additional benefit for Lithuanian athletes:
“Having your own support allows you to feel calmer and can help achieve a better result. And the spectators will see that it is not just a competition, but a real sports celebration.”
Equally emotional anticipation awaits Viktorija Vareikaitė, who has been racing in the world championship for several years alongside Frenchman Grégory Raymond, and who will compete for the first time in a world-class event in Lithuania:
“The world championship means not only results to me – it is a huge experience, emotions, and an opportunity to grow. Therefore, the stage in Lithuania is special – I will finally feel the support of my own people on the track.”

V. Vareikaitė openly shares that the path to the world championship requires not only hard training but also great personal sacrifices:
“This sport is not cheap. We did not manage to raise the entire season budget, so both of us work very hard off the track as well. Sometimes it feels like life revolves only around work, training, and motorcycles.”
However, the most important goal for the team remains not the positions in the results table:
“We want to give our maximum in every race, ride steadily, gain experience, and after the finish feel that we did everything we could.”
The athlete is convinced that the historic stage in Lithuania will become a memorable celebration for both participants and spectators.
“For many foreigners, this will be a completely new track, so there will be plenty of intrigue. The track is very well visible from various places, there will be activities for children, lots of action, and a great emotional buzz. And the spectators will experience not only races – there will be many activities for children, since the track is well visible from various places, it will be a real sports celebration even for those who see SidecarCross live for the first time.”
V. Vareikaitė is glad that the historic stage is already attracting great interest from Lithuanians and is eager to finally race in front of her own fans:
“It is very nice to see how many people in Lithuania follow, support, and are interested in this championship. I can’t wait to meet everyone, chat, and see the atmosphere created by the spectators. I am also very curious to see the event itself. I believe that the saying ‘the first pancake is always lumpy’ will not apply this time, because I see how much heart, work, and effort the Lithuanian Motorcycle Sport Federation and Mickūnai MX park organizers put into this championship.”
The World Motocross Championship will start on Saturday, August 1, with official training and qualifying runs on the track. On Sunday, spectators will enjoy the main competition day – the grand athlete presentation, autograph session where fans can meet the world elite, and the decisive championship races that will reveal the stage winners.
