Officials are investigating whether this incident is sabotage or a technical failure.
The fire at the electrical substation occurred at a time when authorities are searching for a suspected radical climate activist accused last week of carrying out a series of attacks on substations across Germany, aimed at disrupting supply from coal-fired power plants.

Early Monday, emergency services in Berlin received a report of a fire in the Moabit district.
“A construction site and part of the substation were burning; they were damaged by the fire,” the police said, adding that electricity supply was not interrupted.
With the help of the grid operator, the police are determining whether the fire was caused by arson or a technical fault.

The attacks on substations last week took place in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the west and the state of Brandenburg in the east. They did not cause major electricity supply disruptions, but some power plant equipment was temporarily shut down as a result.
The police are looking for a 48-year-old person who sent letters claiming responsibility for these actions and stating that it was a protest against the fossil fuel industry.
In recent months, there have been several attacks on electrical networks in Germany, and in some cases, responsibility has been claimed by far-left militants.
