As announced by the Employment Service, the veneer coverings and wood panel factory “Homanit Lietuva” reported the dismissal of about 228 employees on September 3.

The planned dismissal period is from October 4 to December 31, 2026.
According to the Employment Service, the largest share of planned dismissals consists of wood processing equipment operators (54 employees), packers (37), and cargo platform and loader operators (35).
It is also planned to dismiss chemistry and other physical sciences technicians, industrial and agricultural machinery mechanics and repairers, accounting specialists, technology and production engineers, electromechanics and electrical fitters, management and organization analysts, as well as managers, among others.
In mid-August, the company announced that it would say goodbye to 200 employees because, due to worse-than-expected results in the first half of the year for the group of companies, the company is temporarily suspending production.

“In response to worse-than-expected first half-year performance results, we decided to temporarily suspend the production of wood fiberboard at the ‘Homanit Lietuva’ company. This will allow us to adjust the group’s production capacities until the market sustainably recovers. Due to these actions, the company expects to reduce operating losses in the second half of the year by 5–6 million euros compared to the first half,” said Fritz Homann, the head and owner of the German company “Homann Holzwerkstoffe,” which manages “Homanit Lietuva,” in a statement.
According to him, production will be temporarily stopped from the beginning of next year for 12 to 21 months. As a result, over 200 employment contracts will be terminated.
During the transitional period while production is suspended, about 20 employees will work at the company. According to “Sodra” data, 260 people worked at the company in July.
