Euro area foreign trade in goods deficit – largest since April 2023

In May, the eurozone’s international trade in goods deficit reached 7.8 billion euros, compared to a 15 billion euro surplus in May last year. This figure was worse than analysts expected, who forecasted a 1.6 billion euro deficit, notes the portal “Trading Economics”.

According to Eurostat data, in May year-on-year, eurozone goods exports to other countries increased by 0.1% to 243.6 billion euros, while imports jumped 10% to 251.4 billion euros.
