“Canada will always be with you,” said Prime Minister Mark Carney after signing the agreement and direct talks with V. Zelensky in Calgary, Alberta.

Soon Canada announced hundreds of millions of dollars in support for Ukraine’s air defense and energy infrastructure.

“Earlier today Canada and Ukraine completed negotiations on the delivery of key air defense fighters (under) the United States’ ‘Jumpstart’ mechanism,” said Prime Minister M. Carney, estimating the contract value at 350 million Canadian dollars (218 million euros).

According to M. Carney, an additional 450 million Canadian dollars (280 million euros) in loan guarantees will be provided for energy infrastructure repairs and hospital power supply.

Earlier, V. Zelensky announced that Canada will provide Kyiv with additional air defense support.

M. Carney noted that in response to the Russian invasion, Canada has already allocated 26 billion Canadian dollars (16.2 billion euros) in aid to Ukraine, and assured that assistance will continue.

“We have provided support to energy systems and more. We will provide even more support,” said the prime minister.

Ukraine emphasizes that in response to intensified Russian ballistic missile strikes, it urgently needs better air defense.
