Due to the war in the Middle East, inflation in the eurozone has jumped to 3.2%.

This, in turn, increases the likelihood that the European Central Bank (ECB) will raise base interest rates.

Statistics show that annual inflation in the eurozone accelerated from 3% in April. This figure matched the forecasts of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg but was lower than the 3.3% predicted by economists surveyed by FactSet.
