According to Didzis Palejs, chairman of the board of the Latvian Biomass Association (LATbio), wood pellet manufacturers are now operating at full capacity. He added that the total pellet production capacity in Latvia is about 1.8 million tons per year, with slightly less than half of this amount consisting of top-quality pellets intended for residents.

Meanwhile, domestic consumption in Latvia is estimated at about 350,000 tons per year. Thus, the capacities of Latvian pellet manufacturers exceed domestic consumption several times, and if necessary, manufacturers can direct part of their industrial capacity to the production of top-quality pellets.
